Vote, wisely

Oggi, io nasco. Scegli l'Europa in cui vuoi vedermi crescere. Scegli il tuo futuro.

Ebony

I was born where the rain still brings the smell of the ebony
In a never-ending land with the sun always shining
It’s been said I’m as pretty as a black pearl
When the African moon is high and my eyes are to the heavens.

I was sold when I was 16, I kissed my mother and never looked back
Then I got lost in the city with all its people and its bright lights
Soon I learned that my hopes and dreams, they were all just illusions
And for me to survive I would have to leave my country.

I spent all I had on the journey and my papers
With the hundred migrants lost by the time we reached Palermo
I took farm on a hill, I picked oranges and lemons
And I worked till late at night for a bed and little money

It’s a long long night
It’s a long long time
It’s a long long road

With non hope left one day I want off to Bologna
There I met a friend who helped me find my fortune
So I changed the way I looked, I changed my way of being
And now everybody knows, black girl costs little money

On the boulevard at night where my dreams have turned to teardrops

For what crime?
For what crime?
For being a staunch defender of human rights

We, living in the so called western countries, give freedom and human rights for granted.
They are not.

We should fight for them, wherever, whenever.

If not for the one still fighting for them, do it for ourselves. Our own freedom and our own rights will be at risks until then.

Being pro-life, doing it the right way

I am not an abortion enthusiast. I believe that life, even when embedded in another human being, has to be protected, expecially because we are the only that can protect such a life. Still, abortion has not to be criminalized, sometimes it is the only reasonable path to follow.

We shall make sure that who carries a child has the support of the whole society. Abortion is not a decision taken lightly, but if women had a real choice maybe abortion rates would go down. Society should support mothers-to-be with a safety net during and after the pregnancy and the decision not to bring to end a pregnancy should not be criminalized. If a mother-to-be wants to bring the child to life but she does not want that child, such a decision should be respected and supported by all means.

Give women a real choice, they will decide wisely
